Blake Bortles did not really do all that well on this play of knowing where he was in the pocket and he paid the price

If there is one trait that many people look for in a quarterback, it’s pocket awareness. People love a quarterback that knows where he is in the pocket at all times so that he can always find a way to make a play.

Pocket awareness, basically, is very important. It is also something that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles did not show off all that well on Sunday against the New York Jets.

In the second half of this one, Bortles dropped back to throw and he completely lost himself back there in the pocket. Because of this, he got absolutely crunched by two Jets defenders, and this resulted in him losing the ball.

Literally, he had no clue that he was going to be part of a sandwich on that play. It’s actually amazing that he wasn’t injured on this play, because he just got absolutely destroyed.

This is not the first time, though, that people have question what Bortles does when he drops back in the pocket. If there is one part of his game that he really needs to start doing some work on, it’s this.
