Brandon Carr laid out a hit on Jordan Matthews with authority to preserve the Dallas Cowboys’ early lead on Sunday Night Football.
The Dallas Cowboys mean business in their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles since they know they must win and snap their five-game losing streak to have any chance of winning the NFC East. They have already gotten off to a flying start with a touchdown, and the defense stepped up on one drive as cornerback Brandon Carr showed a vicious killer instinct. He did this by laying out a hard hit on Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews, which prevented the Eagles from converting on a third down and forced them to punt.
Here is a video of this flawless hit by Carr that made him look like a brick wall.
The Cowboys have been scrambling to win a game for the past several weeks since quarterback Tony Romo broke his clavicle in Week 2, and he is not expected to return until Week 11. Wide receiver Dez Bryant also missed an extended period of time with a stress fracture in his foot, but he returned for the Cowboys’ Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Although quarterback has been an area of struggle with Romo out, the Cowboys defense is beginning to show steady improvement as they held the Seahawks to 13 points.
They have also gotten off to a great start in the first quarter against the Eagles, but it remains to be seen whether they can close a game and improve their record to 3-5. This will be essential since the Giants currently lead the NFC East with a 5-4 record.
