One Lakers fan’s heckling was so good that Carmelo Anthony had to show him some love
The New York Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon in Madison Square Garden. Carmelo Anthony had a solid yet inefficient day at the office as he led the Knicks in scoring with 24 points and added eight rebounds and two assists. However, Melo shot just 8-20 from the field on the day. Maybe his percentages would have been better had one Lakers fan not been in his ear all day.
There are obviously going to be hecklers at every NBA game because that’s the nature of the sport and the league. However, a heckler in The Garden on Sunday must’ve been one of the best ever at his trade because he made such an impression hassling Melo that Anthony felt the need to shout him out after the game:
You can tell by Anthony’s answer that the heckler was getting to him, even if that’s not the reason he shot poorly in the game. You have to wonder if he would have mentioned the heckler had the Knicks lost, just in a far less jovial fashion.
Since the heckler is a Lakers fan, though, we’ll let him have his moment in the sun after Melo showed him love. After all, he’s not going to have much to enjoy in the NBA if he’s rooting for the Lakers this season.
