Delanie Walker scores second TD vs. Saints (Video)
By Josh Wilson
Delanie Walker made his second touchdown catch in the second quarter of the Tennessee Titans‘ game against the New Orleans Saints.
The Tennessee Titans were a clear underdog going into today’s game against the New Orleans Saints, but don’t tell tight end Delanie Walker that. When the Titans were seemingly down for the count in the first quarter, he put himself in the right place at the right time, and made an absolutely insane deflected touchdown grab to cut the lead to four for the Titans.
The Saints bounced back going up 21-10, but quarterback Marcus Mariota and the Titans marched down the field yet again, and looked to cut the lead. They got to the red zone, and Walker caught another deflected pass that nearly led to yet another touchdown for Walker. He wouldn’t get past the goal line on that play, but shortly after Mariota connected with Walker deep in the end zone to cut the Saints’ lead, 21-17.
Marcus Mariota is really starting to mimic his opposing quarterback Drew Brees today, by making his favorite target a tight end. Brees is known for making receivers out of tight end, liking Jeremy Shockey in 2009, and then Jimmy Graham up until this year when he was traded away to the Seattle Seahawks. Now he passes to tight ends Josh Hill and Benjamin Watson.
Mariota and Walker are almost single-handedly keeping Tennessee in this game. So far Mariota has two touchdown passes, both to Walker. The Saints must change their defensive plan with Walker at halftime if they want to have a shot at winning.
