Fantasy football scoring leaders-Week 9 early games
Due to six teams on a bye this week and three late afternoon games, the NFL had an unusually small number of games in the early afternoon window. There were seven games that kicked off at 1:00 PM ET with some games turning into lopsided affairs and others staying competitive. To catch up on the fantasy football scoring leaders from the early games on this Sunday, check out the list below.

There were a few games that stood out as great contests, and the Panthers and Patriots got big wins to stay undefeated. It took overtime to decide two games as the Titans-Saints game and the Rams-Vikings game were tied at the end of regulation. Marcus Mariota’s fourth touchdown pass got Tennessee a nice road win in their overtime win. The Vikings kicked a field goal to beat St. Louis even though they didn’t have Teddy Bridgewater who was lost to a concussion in the second half. The Steelers and Raiders didn’t need overtime, but there was plenty of late drama and high-scoring to keep fantasy owners happy. Check out the list below to find all the fantasy football scoring leaders for the early games of week 9.
DeAngelo Williams-RB-Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers lost Big Ben but still got a win thanks to big plays from Antonio Brown (listed later) and DeAngelo Williams. Williams ran for 170 yards on his 27 carries while rushing for two touchdowns. He added 55 yards on two catches and also had a successful two-point conversion.
Aaron Rodgers-QB-Green Bay Packers: Although Aaron Rodgers final stat line looks good, the Packers looked horrible for most of their game in Carolina. Rodgers threw an interception at the end of the game when the Packers had a chance to tie the game, but he put them in that position throwing for 376 yards and four touchdowns while running for 22 yards as well.
Cam Newton-QB-Carolina Panthers: Newton ran for a score and finished with 57 yards while also racking up 297 yards passing with three more touchdowns. He and the Panthers have to be taken seriously after moving to 8-0 and getting the inside track on home field advantage in the NFC.
Antonio Brown-WR-Pittsburgh Steelers: Brown shredded the Raiders all day long and finished with an impressive 284 yards on his 17 catches. Brown didn’t get into the end zone, but his monster day was still plenty for his fantasy owners.
Marcus Mariota-QB-Tennessee Titans: Getting interim coach Mike Mularkey a nice road win in his first game at the helm, Mariota returned to action after missing a two weeks and threw for 371 yards and four touchdowns. He added a two-point conversion and ran for five yards. While he won’t get to play New Orleans defense every week, he definitely showed more of the upside that made him such a hot sleeper play early in the season.
Drew Brees-QB-New Orleans Saints: Brees had a great game in a losing effort to Mariota throwing for three touchdowns and 389 yards while adding a fourth score on the ground. Brees didn’t own the NFL like he did last week throwing for seven touchdowns but he still gave his fantasy owners a nice boost.
Derek Carr-QB-Oakland Raiders: Carr and the Raiders came oh-so-close to knocking off the Steelers in Pittsburgh and could have pulled out a win if it wasn’t for some costly turnovers. Carr finished with 301 yards passing and four touchdowns and is emerging as one of the best young QB’s in the NFL.
Lamar Miller-RB-Miami Dolphins: Miami struggled in their loss to Buffalo, but Miller got both of their touchdowns in a 33-17 loss. He ran for just 44 yards on his 12 carries, but his two rushing touchdowns and 97 receiving yards on seven catches definitely made up for the lack of yards on the ground.
Delanie Walker-TE-Tennessee Titans: Walker had a bonkers TD catch after a pair of deflections from the Saints and finished with seven catches for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Titans big win.
Karlos Williams-RB-Buffalo Bills: With LeSeam McCoy’s injury, Karlos Williams’ return was well-timed for Buffalo, and Williams took it to Miami fr the second time this season. Williams totaled 110 yards and two touchdowns on his nine carries and depending on McCoy’s injury he could be the feature back for a while in Buffalo.
Michael Crabtree-WR-Oakland Raiders: Crabtree was the only wide receiver in the early games with multiple touchdown catches hauling in two touchdowns on his seven catches for 108 yards.
Adrian Peterson-RB-Minnesota Vikings: In his showdown with Todd Gurley, Peterson got the best of his young heir apparent both on the stat sheet and the scoreboard. Peterson ripped off 125 yards on 29 carries while getting into the end zone and adding two catches for 18 yards.
