University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh had an ugly end to his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers and used a press conference to troll his former employer.

It’s not a secret that Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh did not end his relationship with the San Francisco 49ers on the best of terms. Harbaugh was constantly at odds with the front office over his role with the team. Harbaugh wanted more power, the front office refused to give it to him. He used his post-game press conference on Saturday’s 49-16 win over Rutgers as an opportunity to troll his former team and his former quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Harbaugh was asked about a second period play in which tight end Jake Butt was left wide open. It was originally supposed to be a running play. Michigan wisely audibled into a passing play and found Butt for a big gain. However, it was overturned because the Wolverines were penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct because they ran that play “with the intent to deceive.” Here’s what Harbaugh had to say about that play.

Jim Harbaugh told reporters that he “trains [his] quarterbacks to throw to people that aren’t covered, even if it’s a running play.” That’s a pretty smart move. If it sounds like something that Bill Belichick would do, it’s probably a brilliant idea. Harbaugh went on to call out an NFL team.

"I was watching an NFL game where they didn’t cover a receiver, and the quarterback handed it off and got maligned by scribes and pundits and so-called experts for not throwing it to him.” – CBS Sports"

Hmmmmmmm… I seem to remember that play that Harbaugh is talking about. The 49ers were the team that executed that play, naturally.

The 49ers are currently 2-6 this season while the Michigan Wolverines are 7-2 after their huge win over Rutgers. Jim Harbaugh has definitely landed on his feet.
