Missouri Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel commented on some of his players boycotting football activities

Late Saturday as all the college football action was taking place in Week 10, the biggest news that we were treated to came from something that actually wasn’t taking place on the field at all. No, in reality, the biggest news out of college football this week was the boycott by the Missouri African-American football players in the wake of some racial tensions on campus.

On Sunday, Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel commented on the boycott, and while he does have a football team to run the rest of the year, he is standing by the mature decision that some of his players have made.

No. 1, just to get this out of the way, Pinkel should be commended for what he did here. There are a lot of coaches out there, believe it or not, that would have taken the “no comment” approach to all of this. For he himself to come out like this is an incredible gesture.

Secondly, it appears as if now it’s not only the African-American players that are in on this, but the entire team as a whole, which shows just some incredible unity on their part here. To see a team come together for a cause like this is just amazing to see take place.

Now, all eyes will be on what the school plans on doing with president Tim Wolfe, which is where the end game really is in all of this.
