Colts punter Pat McAfee may not have made the tackle, but he unloaded on a blocker
The Indianapolis Colts looked like they were about to go into halftime with a shocking 17-0 lead over the Denver Broncos. All that the Colts had to do was get a punt off and make sure to prevent a long return. Pat McAfee got the punt off cleanly, but the Colts failed to hold up the second part of the deal as Omar Bolden took it 83 yards to the house on the return for Denver.
Bolden obviously wasn’t tackled on the play considered that he scored on the return. However, McAfee (yes, the Colts punter) made sure he got his licks in on the return. With McAfee as the last man to beat, Broncos safety David Bruton Jr. tried to block the Indy punter. Bruton may have prevented the tackle, but McAfee absolutely lit him up for his trouble:
I would say that I didn’t know that punters could lay the hit stick like that, but we’ve actually see McAfee lay big hits on a return before. It’s one of those idiosyncrasies in professional football that you can’t really explain, but have to sit back and appreciate. We may be appreciating it, but I doubt Bruton is after the blow he took on that return.
