Randall Cobb gave the Packers life against the Panthers with a long touchdown catch

The Green Bay Packers went into halftime of their Week 9 contest against the Carolina Panthers facing a big deficit. The Panthers jumped out to a 27-7 lead and were simply dominating on both sides of the ball. Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb looked to flip the narrative at the start of the second half, though.

After benefitting from a 15-yard penalty on the Panthers to start the opening drive of the third quarter and after a James Starks run, Rodgers hit Cobb with a beautiful ball on a wheel route down the right sideline. Cobb was off to the races, breaking two tackles from Carolina defensive backs before drawing the Packers within two scores:

Not only is any big play like that important in terms of the flow and momentum of the game, but it holds even more weight in that the Packers were able to cut the deficit just a minute into the second half and do it with relative ease. That’s a play that could get Rodgers in a rhythm and get the Panthers on their heels in this game.

Rodgers and the Packers offense have been shaky as of late, including the first quarter of Sunday’s game. If he and Cobb can get in-sync at any point, though, then that’s bad news for any defense that’s going to be trying to stop it.
