Thomas Davis ices game vs. Packers with interception (Video)
The Carolina Panthers got a bit of a scare today from the Green Bay Packers. Thomas Davis put the game on ice with an athletic interception.
The Carolina Panthers advanced to 8-0 after an incredible game against the Green Bay Packers. They jumped out to a 27-7 lead over Green Bay at halftime. However, the Packers scored 22 second-half points to give the Packers a good run for their money. Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis made sure that the Panthers would win, icing the epic game with a clutch interception.
Thomas Davis made an athletic grab there. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker read the pass from Aaron Rodgers perfectly and was able to capitalize on the mistake by Rodgers. It was a valiant effort from Rodgers. Rodgers was 25-for-48 with 369 passing yards and four touchdowns. That effort fell short because Rodgers threw that one interception to Thomas Davis.
Entering Sunday’s action, Davis had 59 tackles and two sacks. He also had one forced fumble and two interceptions. Davis’s interception was the third of the season for the 32-year-old veteran of 11 seasons. Davis was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He was the 14th-overall pick of the draft.
In 11 seasons, Davis has quietly put up some solid totals. Entering Sunday’s game, he had 787 tackles and 19.5 sacks in 124 career games, all of them with the Panthers. He has nine career interceptions with his game-clinching interception of Rodgers. He is known as being the only NFL player to have three ACL surgeries and come back to play after the third.
