Who is Teddy Bridgewater’s backup quarterback?
The Minnesota Vikings sustained what could be a critical injury on Sunday afternoon, with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater sustaining a potential concussion. Bridgewater was sliding to the ground and got absolutely rocked by St. Louis Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner, bouncing his head off the hard turf.
Bridgewater laid on the ground for several moments with his eyes closed before eventually coming to and walking off the field. It is uncertain how injured Bridgewater is, but the eye test says it was not good. If Bridgewater is out for any legnth of time, he will be replaced by veteran Shaun Hill. Hill might be playing a vital part in the NFC playoff picture, with Minnesota currently sitting at 5-2 and in the final playoff spot.
Hill is in his 14th season, back where his career started. Hill began with the Vikings back in 2005, getting his first action there. However, Hill would move onto the San Francisco 49ers, staying there from 2007-09 as the backup to Alex Smith. Hill saw action in 18 games over that span before moving on to be the backup for another first-overall pick, Matthew Stafford.
Hill was with the Detroit Lions until before the 2014 season, when he decided to move onto the St. Louis Rams. Hill has been one of the more reliable backups in the league over the years, at least giving Minnesota somebody who could play in a pinch.
