The San Diego Chargers were supposed to be competing for the AFC West title and perhaps a shot at the Super Bowl. The Chicago Bears were expected to be bad in the middle of a rebuilding effort. Unfortunately for San Diego, the Chargers and Bears are both win two wins and little hope of making a run toward the playoffs.

San Diego is 2-6 and looking more and more like a team that needs to be completely rebuilt. The Chargers are in their third season under the front office led by general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Mike McCoy, and things are trending in the wrong direction. In 2013, the Chargers reached the playoffs with a 9-7 record but missed the postseason with the same mark last year. This season, the wheels have completely come off.

Over in Chicago, general manager Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox are in their first seasons with the Bears. Chicago is 2-5 and trying to get back into a competitive phase, something it could not achieve with Marc Trestman at the controls over the past two seasons. The Bears are one of the more storied franchises in the NFL, but have not won a championship since 1985.
