Jeff Teague appears to slap Nemanja Bjelica in head (Video)
Hawks guard Jeff Teague appears to have gotten away with a bit of a dirty play
The Atlanta Hawks found themselves in a rollercoaster affair with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. The Wolves jumped on them in the first half to the tune of a 30-point lead at the break, but the Hawks fought back to tie it up late in the fourth quarter. They eventually suffered defeat, but not before things got a little saucy between Hawks point guard Jeff Teague and Wolves forward Nemanja Bjelica late in the game.
After a missed Hawks shot, Bjelica caught the rebound and kicked the outlet pass to Ricky Rubio for Minnesota. However, Bjelica and Teague got tied up underneath the basket as Teague was swiping for the ball. While that was happening, it seemed as if Teague was pushing Bjelica slightly and that eventually led to him apparently slapping Bjelica in the face:
Whether he slaps him or accidentally just gets a hand up into his face, there’s pretty clearly some unnecessary contact between the two opposing players in that instance. Incredibly, neither Teague nor Bjelica heard a whistle after that play. It doesn’t matter what the refs call, but it feels like you have to call something in that instance. And by the look on Bjelica’s face after the two were tangled up, I’d say he agrees with that assessment.
