Lamarcus Joyner won’t be suspended Teddy Bridgewater hit
St. Louis Rams defensive back Lamarcus Joyner will not be suspended for his high hit on Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. He could be fined.
The NFL has announced that Lamarcus Joyner of the St. Louis Rams will not be suspended for his questionable hit on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater during the Vikings 21-18 victory over the Rams on Sunday. Bridgewater did not return to the game after the hit. The Vikings announced after the game that Bridgewater suffered a concussion due to the hit by Joyner. The hit in question was made while Bridgewater was sliding to the ground.
Lamarcus Joyner avoided suspension despite the hit being quite blatant and that Bridgewater was sliding when Joyner made the hit to the head. Bridgewater passed his first concussion test as part of concussion protocol today and he is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the 4-4 Oakland Raiders in Oakland.
The Vikings did not take kindly to the hit. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had some pretty strong words about it. People expected that Joyner would be suspended and it comes as a surprise to a lot of fans that Joyner will not be suspended for his actions.
Joyner has 40 tackles and two sacks in eight games this season for the Rams. He was a second-round pick (41st overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Rams. He had 40 tackles and one sack in ten games as a rookie in 2014. He went to Florida State University where he was a three-year starter for the Seminoles. He was one of the Jim Thorpe finalists after an impressive senior year. In 2014, he was a member of the Seminoles team that won the BCS National Championship.
The Rams will look to improve to 5-4 next week when they take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday in St. Louis.
