After ripping down a Green Bay Packers banner hanging over the rail on Sunday, Cam Newton will not be punished by the NFL.

Cam Newton is a king in Carolina right now, and he simply wants to protect his kingdom. When the Packers came to town, Cam Newton and his Panthers were determined to show them whose boss, and that started before the opening kick off.

The Panthers quarterback saw the Green Bay banner in pre-game warm ups stating “North Carolina Cheeseheads”, wandered towards the banner and simply took it back to his locker. Newton was simply trying to make a statement: This was his home, and no Green Bay fan was going to disrespect it.

The NFL MVP candidate made a statement by his actions off the field. He then made a bigger statement on the field, by leading his team to 8-0, and defeating the team who many considered to be the best in the NFC. Newton threw for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns on Sunday and rushed for 57 yards and yet another touchdown. It was an impressive performance from an often maligned Panthers’ offense, and has lead them to number 1 seed in the NFC by 2 games.

The owner of the banner, Mike Dobs, was upset with Newton’s behavior, has since stated:

"“I was just shocked, shocked. It went from a fun event to I was disgusted. We were on the front row, over there by the goalposts, and we wanted our grandkids to see us on TV. We thought he was going to sign our banner — we were happy to see him — and he ripped it out of our hands,”"

Mike Dobs, however, must settle for disappointment, as it looks as though Cam Newton will not be reprimanded for his actions.

We can’t say that we truly expected Newton to be disciplined for his actions, especially for such a minor incident. Whatever the case, if you disrespect Carolina, you’ll have Super Cam to deal with.
