Philip Rivers throws TD pass to Danny Woodhead (Video)
The San Diego Chargers absolutely have to win their game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, and they are off to a great start.
In the first quarter, San Diego took a 7-0 lead over the Bears at Qualcomm Stadium when quarterback Philip Rivers hit running back Danny Woodhead on a wheel route with a 14-yard touchdown pass.
The Chargers are 2-6 and have to find a way to get rolling. San Diego was supposed to be one of the elite teams in the AFC and perhaps make a run at the Super Bowl, but things have gone completely off the tracks. San Diego has talent in Rivers, Antonio Gates, Malcom Floyd, Eric Weddle, Jason Verrett and Brandon Flowers, but the wins have not been easy in coming.
On the other sideline, the Bears are a team simply trying to find a new identity under first-year head coach John Fox. Chicago has been bad for years after suffering through a brutal two-year tenure under head coach Marc Trestman. The Bears are 2-5 and sitting third in the NFC North, only ahead of the woeful Detroit Lions, who have the league’s worst mark at 1-7.
