St. Louis receiver Stedman Bailey has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy

The St. Louis Rams offense has really come to life over the past few weeks since the emergence of rookie running back Todd Gurley. However, the Rams offense and quarterback Nick Foles will be without one of their weapons in the receiving game over the next four weeks.

On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that third-year wide receiver Stedman Bailey has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy:

Bailey’s suspension will begin immediately starting in Week 10, which means that the West Virginia Mountaineers product won’t be able to take the field again for St. Louis until early December. It’s also worth noting that, while we don’t know the specifics as to why Bailey is being suspended, the four-game ban is pretty standard for first-time offenders in regards to the league’s Substance Abuse Policy.

After an incredible college career at West Virginia where Bailey caught 25 touchdown passes in his final season with the Mountaineers, he hasn’t found much success since joining the Rams as a third-round pick in 2013. Through eight weeks of the 2015 season, he has just 12 receptions for 182 yards and a single touchdown on only 23 targets.

However, in an offense that’s ultimately devoid of depth in the receiving core, even losing a player like Bailey for four games is detrimental to the offense. We’ll see if the Browns have any moves to make to try and replace Bailey until Week 14 when he can return.
