Jordan Hicks is expected to miss 2-4 weeks of Philadelphia Eagles football due to a pectoral injury.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense has been overshadowed by injuries all year up to this point, and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. Linebacker Jordan Hicks injured his pectoral in Sunday night’s overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys, and at first it looked pretty bad. But as the news unfolded, it wasn’t as bad as it looked.

If it were a full pectoral tear, Hicks likely would’ve had to sit out the rest of the season. Instead, Ian Rapoport reports that Hicks will miss just 2-4 weeks with his injury.

This is a pretty big blow to the Eagles, despite not being as bad as it first looked. Hicks has been an important part of the defense since he started this season, and is having a pretty outstanding rookie year. He has totaled 47 tackles, one interception, and three recovered fumbles. The three recovered fumbles is tied for first in the league, and he’s one of two non-offensive players (Darrelle Revis is the other) to reach that mark so far this year.

His one interception came Sunday night when he ran it back for a touchdown.

Hicks won’t miss any huge games if he’s back by the second or third week, but four weeks from now the Eagles face off against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, so they’d like to have him available for that.

The Eagles’ season hasn’t gone as well as expected, but it is starting to pick up. Luckily, the rest of the AFC East hasn’t been too great either, so they’ve been able to keep themselves in the running for the division lead with a 4-4 record.
