Minnesota Twins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater took a big hit on Sunday, but he may not be out for next week’s game versus the Oakland Raiders.

Just as the Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of contending for a playoff spot, one play could have nearly eliminated their chances at a successful season. During a fourth quarter run, Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was trying to slide to safety. Just when he thought that he was in the clear, out came St. Louis Rams cornerback LaMarcus Joyner. It was his elbow to the head which left Bridgewater momentarily unconscious. It was later learned that Teddy Bridgewater suffered a concussion on the play.

He will be subjected to the NFL’s concussion protocol this week. Despite the hit, Bridgewater’s star running back hints that the QB may not miss any time.

We will see about that.

NFL officials did say that they will look into the hit on Teddy Bridgewater.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer immediately expressed his frustrations about what he perceived to be a dirty hit during his post-game press conference. Coach Zimmer specifically stated that his team “played clean”. It was him making a point of how the Rams players went about the game. Zimmer would later refer to Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Williams is known for the “bounty-gate” scandal several years ago, involving the New Orleans Saints.

The Vikings would win in overtime 21-18, but they had to play much of the final quarter and the extra time without their second-year QB.

With the win, Minnesota upped their record to 6-2 and moved into a tie with the Green Bay Packers for tops in the NFC North. They will have a showdown in two weeks. That game, held in Minnesota, will have a lot of sway into who will have the upper hand in taking the division.

Will Teddy Bridgewater pass all of the concussion procedures?

Baring a stunning revelation, it is realistic to think that Bridgewater will play against the Oakland Raiders next week. He should be available to face the Packers.

At least one person believes that he will play.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson eclipses the 100-yard rushing total for the 46th in his career believes that his quarterback will play next Sunday.

If Bridgewater cannot pass the concussion protocol, backup Shaun Hill will take the snaps. The Minnesota Vikings will employ their strong running game with whichever quarterback who plays.
