Lamarcus Joyner will be fined $23,152 for his late hit on Teddy Bridgewater during the Vikings overtime win over the Rams

Teddy Bridgewater was knocked out of the Minnesota Vikings overtime win against the St. Louis Rams after a late hit while the quarterback was sliding. The Rams’ Lamarcus Joyner delivered what was perceived as a dirty hit on the second-year quarterback.

Joyner avoided a suspension for the hit, but he will be paying some money to the league, as he was fined by the NFL on Thursday. The league will be giving out a hefty fine for Joyner targeting one of the league’s brightest young passers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Joyner will be fined $23,152 for his late hit that knocked Bridgewater out of the game and forced Vikings backup Shaun Hill to guide the team to an overtime victory.

You can see a photo of the hit below where Joyner clearly hits a sliding Bridgewater in what was a scary play.

Joyner was lucky to not get suspended for the hit, but will now pay a fine and will be on the radar of the league if he crosses the line again. Taking out a quarterback who is sliding is a big no-no in today’s NFL, so expect more fines and even suspensions if defensive players take a shot at a passer who is giving himself up by sliding to the ground.
