Ronda Rousey’s coach has some choice words for her opponent, Holly Holm, ahead of UFC 193.
The MMA universe will have its collective attention turned to Melbourne, Australia on Sunday when Ronda Rousey is set to square off in a title defense against Holly Holm at UFC 193. And while Holm presents a unique challenge to Rousey, her coach doesn’t foresee it being any issue for the undefeated UFC champion.
During our prediction for Rousey’s upcoming battle with Holm, we discussed the importance of striking to Holm and keeping her distance from Rousey. However, while Holm may try to play that game, Edmond Tarverdyan doesn’t think it will deter the Rousey on her quest to retain her title.
Speaking with Fox Sports, Tarverdyan discussed the strategy that Holms is likely to employ, but quickly noted that it isn’t likely to lead to much success against Ronda Rousey.
"“Champ knows exactly what she’s going to be doing in there. And even if she runs, I always say, you can run but you can’t hide. And she’s not going to be able run quicker backwards as Ronda can move forward. That’s not gonna happen. We’re not going to see that. Ronda’s legs are the best.” – (h/t Fox Sports)"
While striking is not at the top of Rousey’s repertoire, her coach doesn’t think it will come to going toe-to-toe with Holm. Instead, he feels that Rousey will simply wear her out and play to her strengths. If Rousey can sneak past Holm’s boxing background, this fight could go in a very similar fashion to her other bouts.
