47. Heinz Field (Pitt)

It might seem a bit odd to choose a stadium that is currently home to the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers, but the Pitt Panthers have made this their home since it was opened back in 2001.

Prior to this season, the Panthers had gone through years of football drought. Sure, this team has made a bowl game in seven straight seasons, but the fact that Pittsburgh can’t do anything more than stay barely above .500 has been heartbreaking for the fans.

Former Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi accepted the position of head coach at Pitt this offseason and it seems like that hire is already paying off. More fans are in the stands on Saturdays, giving the downtown Pittsburgh location more of a college football atmosphere feel and this program is trending upward.

When Heinz Field is filled to capacity, not many football stadiums out there can beat it – especially with 65,000 screaming fans making the noise level that much harder to match.

One really cool feature of the relatively new stadium is the Great Hall which is located at the east end of the stadium and is filled with both Pitt Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia. For fans of either or both of these teams, it has to be a pleasant walk down memory lane, and a way to kill an hour before games.
