45. LaVell Edwards Stadium (BYU)

Opened in 1964 and originally holding just 28,800 screaming fans, LaVell Edwards Stadium, formerly known as Cougar Stadium, has probably the most scenic view from any seat in all of college football.

No, I’m not talking about the view of the field, although BYU Cougars fans have been one of the better non-Power Five conference teams in the country over the past few seasons, but the view of the outside is absolutely unbelievable.

What most college football fans would do to tailgate next to mountains before games and take a picture of the stadium and have those giant natural formations towering over the logo of their favorite team on the front of the venue.

Named after legendary head coach LaVell Edwards who retired in 2000, the Cougars play in front of 63,000-plus every Saturday and upgrades were made prior to the 2012 season which put new video boards in, among other renovations.

The Cougars have put a good product on the field for these loyal fans over the past few years and that will continue to make this stadium’s atmosphere that much more astounding.

As for the history of this 50-year old stadium, Jurassic fossils were found under the stadium and are now in the BYU Museum of Paleontology. Cool stuff.
