Andre Drummond loves Detroit and isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon.

Pistons center Andre Drummond will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season and is going to cash in on a max contract, due in part to his stellar play this season so far. Coming into Saturday, Drummond is averaging 18.8 points per game while grabbing a league-leading 19.3 rebounds per game.

He has become a beast on both sides of the ball and is thriving under head coach Stan Van Gundy.

The Pistons and Drummond agreed to not sign an extension before the Nov. 2nd deadline in order to preserve cap space for the 2016 season. Drummond wants to make sure the Pistons have enough money so that they can improve the team around him as well as paying him max money in the future.

“I love it here (Detroit). I plan on being here,” Drummond told Yahoo sports.

Drummond is clearly loving the fact that he doesn’t have to occupy floor and paint space with former Pistons Josh Smith and Greg Monroe any longer. Although his free throw shooting needs work, he has become one of the league’s most dominating centers and is a force on the defensive end with his ability to block shots and grab rebounds at a frantic rate.

The Pistons future looks bright, and as long as Drummond is there as the anchor in the middle, they will stay competitive in the Eastern Conference until the Pistons add some more talent around him.
