DeAndre Jordan is a giant human being. That helps him in a lot of the important parts of NBA basketball including rebounding, blocking shots and putting the ball through the basket easily. It also usually makes him very hard to miss, especially as he runs right at someone. On Saturday afternoon the Detroit Pistons did somehow lose track of DeAndre as he streaked down the middle of the lane and it led to a pretty nice alley-oop.

First of all, I was not watching the game so I have no idea why Jordan was running from the other end of the floor so late into the shot block but that seems to be besides the point. Jordan runs past every single one of the Pistons to get to the front of the rim and somehow they do not notice him.

From there, Paul Pierce does the smart thing which is throw the ball towards the front of the rim so that Jordan can be a giant and throw it down, which he does. It really is not fair at all how easy Jordan makes the play look, catching the ball and dunking in in one motion is hard enough as it is, let alone then dunking without turning around and facing the rim.

Plays like this are what make Jordan one of the best lob threats in all of basketball, even when teams don’t completely forget about him.
