The Sacramento Kings have already begun their annual tradition of leaked reports detailing dysfunction behind the scenes. Yet despite any problems that may or may not be going on behind the scenes, DeMarcus Cousins has been as dominant as ever on the floor.
Coming off a 33 point, 9 rebound effort the other night against Andre Drummond and the Pistons, Boogie showed up ready to rock on Friday night. The Kings fell behind early to the dreadful Brooklyn Nets, who were aiming for just their second win of the season.
Late in the first half, however, Rajon Rondo lead a surge that got the Kings back in the game. From there, Boogie did the rest. Cousins rattled off 19 straight points during a five-plus minute stretch as the Kings went from down 8 to up 1.
Cousins had every single aspect of his offensive arsenal on point. In the paint, driving to the rim, mid-range jumpers, hell, even threes. It was all cash as he shredded the Nets, both literally and metaphorically.
Look how smooth Boogie is with that three-point stroke. There’s just no way you can guard him if he’s going to knock that down with consistency.
Because the second you close out hard on him…BOOM! Right in yo face!
Cousins finished the night with 40 points and 13 rebounds as the Kings held on despite a wacky final few seconds to defeat the Nets 111-109.
Bow down to King Boogie.
