Brandin Cooks burns Washington for 60-yard touchdown (Video)
Brandin Cooks is having a monster first half against Washington
In a Week 10 matchup high on offense and low on defense, the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins were trading scores all throughout the first half. Second-year Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks caught the first touchdown for New Orleans on the day, but it was his second trip to the end zone that was a bit more impressive.
Drew Brees dropped back to pass and the Redskins sent a blitz. Ever the veteran, Brees handled the pressure with ease and then uncorked a strike downfield to a wide-open Cooks. It was an easy stroll across the goal line after such a perfectly thrown ball put the second-year receiver in that much space:
It looks like Washington didn’t even bother covering Cooks on that play, but that’s at least partially because he absolutely torched the coverage on his route.
After a relatively disappointing rookie season and a disappointing start to this year, there were some people who were starting to sour on Cooks’ potential to be a viable threat in the NFL. However, with two touchdowns in the first half against Washington and five touchdowns in his last three games now, it’s safe to say that he might do just fine in this league.
