Eddie Lacy has been ruled out for the Green Bay Packers against the Detroit Lions with a groin injury.

The Green Bay Packers will be without running back Eddie Lacy in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Lacy suffered a groin injury in last week’s loss to the Carolina Panthers, and will sit out.

This is another setback for the third-year player in what has been a disappointing season for him. After suffering an ankle injury in the Week 2 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, Lacy has been able to rediscover his form. James Starks was the named the starter earlier this week.

Given his struggles, this isn’t as big a blow as it could have been for the Packers. Starks has been playing at a high level in the backfield, and possesses everything you need in an every-down back. He can block and catch passes, and his hands are much safer than in seasons past.

Lacy’s groin issue isn’t expected to be serious, and he could ready to roll in next week’s game on the road to the Minnesota Vikings, but it’s enough to hold him out of a big game with the Lions.

The Packers will hope Starks can take the bulk of the carries and produce enough on the ground while Lacy gets healthy. Lacy will have to wait until next week to try and earn his starting role back.
