Eric Berry picked off Brock Osweiler for the Chiefs’ fifth interception against Denver
The Kansas City Chiefs defense had their way with the Denver Broncos in their Week 10 matchup, so much so that they forced the Broncos to make a switch from Peyton Manning at quarterback and bring in Brock Osweiler. After Manning’s four interceptions, though, Eric Berry and the Chiefs defense didn’t let up once Osweiler starting taking snaps for Denver.
Early in the fourth quarter with Osweiler putting together what was Denver’s best drive of the game, the backup quarterback was looking for the end zone. However, the ball was a bit underthrown and tipped by a Kansas City defender. The tip fell right into the hands of Berry, who then made a heady play and found room to make a return to just short of the 20-yard line:
The fact that Berry is back on the field at all after being diagnosed with cancer last year is an amazing story alone, but the fact that he’s back on the field and still looks like one of the better defensive backs in the NFL is even more remarkable. He might actually be Superman.
Berry’s interception was just another chapter in a nightmare day for the Broncos and a day out of the Chiefs’ wildest dreams. If the Kansas City defense can play like this for the rest of the season, they could be a sneaky wildcard contender.
