Heath Miller is Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback vs. Browns
Tight end Heath Miller is the backup quarterback for the Steelers in Week 10
If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like if a veteran tight end was thrust into the position of having to play quarterback in the NFL, then Week 10 may be the week for you as there’s a viable chance that Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller may have to play quarterback.
The Steelers were already in a bad way in terms of the quarterback position heading into their Week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Ben Roethlisberger was dealing with a foot injury, relegating him to emergency backup duties, while Landry Jones was named the starting quarterback. Michael Vick was still out of action.
However, things only got worse for the Steelers in the first half of the action. Jones got tackled awkwardly and injured his ankle, forcing Roethlisberger to come into the game. With Vick out, that made Miller the backup behind Roethlisberger. That is not a mistake; the Steelers starting tight end is now their backup quarterback in Week 10.
What’s crazy is that there is at least a foreseeable chance that Miller could actually have to line up under-center for Pittsburgh in this game against the Browns. This isn’t a healthy quarterback that came in after Jones was injured; it’s an already injured Roethlisberger who wasn’t starting the game to begin with because he’s banged up. One big hit and Heath Miller could be the signal-caller for the Steelers offense. What a time to be alive.
