Jeremy Langford finally got free in a big way against the Rams

The Chicago Bears have been clicking for quite some time on the offensive side of the ball, despite their overall lack of success to show for it. Jeremy Langford only gave them another weapon in relief of Matt Forte last week. Even against the vaunted St. Louis Rams defense in Week 10, Langford and the Bears offense couldn’t be stopped.

After already putting 17 points on the Rams in the first half, the Bears weren’t even close to being done. Late in the second quarter, Cutler dropped back to pass under heavy pressure in Bears territory. He checked down to Langford with a short pass and Langford made something happen. The rookie running back bolted into space down the left sideline before cutting through the defense and turning on the jets again for an 83-yard touchdown:

After what Langford showed in his debut as the starter for the Bears last week and with this big play, it looks like Chicago might fare just fine without Matt Forte on the field. Moreover, whenever Forte’s time is up as a productive back, the Bears have to be pleased with grooming Langford as his replacement.

As for the Bears as a whole, they are a severely flawed team and there’s no way around that. However, their offense has been putting points on the board in bunches in recent weeks, despite numerous injuries. They’re a team that might not be in playoff contention, but that could definitely shake things up for the postseason with some upset wins.
