The Houston Texans pulled off the upset on Monday Night Football, beating the Cincinnati Bengals, 10-6, at Paul Brown Stadium. For Houston, the win pulls it into a first-place tie in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts, with both teams sitting at 4-5. Cincinnati drops its first game, falling to 8-1 but remaining in first place of the AFC North by 2.5 games over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Andy Dalton has been terrific this season, but did not produce much against a good Houston defense. Dalton threw for 197 yards on 22-of-38 passing, tossing an interception. The Texans were able to get the win on thanks to backup quarterback T.J. Yates, who hit DeAndre Hopkins on a 22-yard touchdown pass with 14:20 remaining. Brian Hoyer exited the game with a possible concussion in the third quarter.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. DeAndre Hopkins

Hopkins was shout out in the first half, but came out and dominated in the second half. Hopkins was able to get free in the secondary and caught five passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. Hopkins has been outstanding all year despite having to deal with lackluster quarterback play.

2. Shane Lechler

Lechler was legitimately terrific. The veteran was consistently able to pin Cincinnati deep in its own territory, forcing Dalton and Co. to go the length of the field. Lechler punted eight times and put three inside the 20-yard line while averaging 46.8 yards per punt.

3. Kevin Johnson

Johnson was charged with guarding All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Green, and the rookie cornerback did his job and then some. Johnson held Green to just five catches and 67 yards without a touchdown. Johnson was taken in the first round out of Wake Forest, and he showed why on Monday night.

Odds

Cincinnati was favored by 10 points and did not cover the spread. The OVER/UNDER was 46.5 and the total went UNDER.
