Want to heal fast from a football injury? Ben Roethlisberger has the dairy product to help you do it.

Ben Roethlisberger might be doing more for the dairy industry than a dozen ads on prime time television ever could.

Earlier Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers faced off against the Cleveland Browns that saw their backup quarterback Landry Jones get the start with an injured Roethlisberger sitting on the sidelines. A hurt ankle from Landry Jones changed all that and Roethlisberger was called up as quarterback, even though he was still tending to his aforementioned injury.

The way Roethlisberger played, you’d be hard pressed to find the slightest hint of an injury as he deftly charged across the field and led the Steelers to a 30-9 win over the Browns.

During the game, Roethlisberger finished off 22 of his 33 passes for a total of 379 yards converting to three touchdowns.

According to Roethlisberger in an exclusive locker room interview after the game when asked what surprised him about the game,

"“I drank a lot of milk It kind of surprised me and everyone else because I was in a boot. On Monday, my foot was basically black and blue. It’s more than just me. It’s the training staff — John Norwig and the doctors and everyone. We were tireless in our rehab and trying to get ready. It was a day-by-day process, and I was just telling coach how I felt.”"

It’s a little-known secret in sports and milk is oftentimes overlooked as a recovery drink. But packing plenty of nutrients in the form of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water. Milk (especially chocolate milk) is oftentimes the go-to drink for the more discerning athlete looking for a recovery drink on a budget. One cup of low-fat milk has eight grams of protein alone.

So the next time you’re fostering an injury, take some advice from Roethlisberger and hit up your dairy case as soon as possible. You too just might save the day.

After this game, Roethlisberger will have a bit more time to recover as it’s a bye week.
