With Week 12 of the college football season now here, who is the favorite to come away with the national championship in January?
Week 12 of the college football season is here, which means that it’s time to start looking at who are the contenders and the pretenders to walk away with the national championship when all is said and done. In January, someone will be coming away from the College Football Playoff as the kings of one of the most exciting sports in the world.
We’ve seen some amazing college football action thus far and there are certainly many teams that you can look at and point to as teams who could carry that trophy away by the time this season is in the books. With that said, who does Las Vegas see as the favorites and the long shots to be national champions at this point in the year.
Of course, you probably won’t be surprised with the team that’s leading the betting odds race at the moment.

With the way that they’ve been playing, it really doesn’t come as a shock that the Alabama Crimson Tide are the front runners to add another trophy to the case that recognizes them as the national champions of college football.
If there is one intriguing team on this list that could make some people a lot of money, it’s North Carolina. Sometimes, teams come away with the national title after they get on a hot streak down the stretch. Really, there are few teams in college football right now that are on a bigger roll than the Tar Heels. With their fate in the ACC clearly in their hands, there’s a chance this group could sneak their way into the fold. And whatever happens after that could be anything.
At 80-1, a few bucks on North Carolina might not hurt the bank account come January if they can keep it up.
