The End Of The Peyton Manning Era

It is finally here. Most of us have dreaded this day and saw it coming for some time now. It is now time to drop Peyton Manning from your fantasy football rosters. He has been a remarkable fantasy football quarterback for many years now and will always be remembered as such, but if you are in contention and have any hopes for winning a title this year it is time to let go.

As a Tennessee Volunteers fan this is a particularly painful day for me and one that I wanted to write about for the past few weeks, but I just could not draw myself to do so. There has been a point over the last few years where we have all thought that he would be finished as fantasy quarterback. Every year it seems that some blow hard type always wants to predict his demise and I would imagine there is someone right now, who at the beginning of this season predicted Manning would be droppable this year and they are now banging their chest and singing their own praises.

Sadly I was really thinking and hoping that Peyton would turn it around after his 281 yard and two TD performance against  the Chiefs. I watched the game and was pretty impressed with how Manning looked.

I am not sure how long this reported injury of torn plantar fascia will keep him sidelined, but as for me and my teams I will be seeking a waiver wire replacement QB in each league that I own Manning in. In both leagues I have already replaced him in my starting lineup, but now he will be dropped from my roster.

For the  record I will probably not be looking to add his replacement Brock Osweiler in an effort to replace manning, but I would not blame you if you do in a two-quarterback league or in a 14-16 team league. We will be putting out a detailed look at the fantasy football waiver wire for week 11 on Tuesday, but until then I will highlight a couple of guys I would be looking for in no particular order.

Kirk Cousins has been pretty solid in two of his last three games. He seems to be gaining some confidence and could finish the season as a solid QB2 for fantasy leagues.

Jay Cutler is another guy who seems to really be learning his new offense and performing at a top-level. I would look to add him if he is available.

Alex Smith is a guy who will never be sexy, but somehow is ranked as the #13 overall QB in my PPR league. He may not win you a game, but he should not lose you a game either.

As always we thank you for stopping by and wish you the best of luck!
