Junior Galette is reportedly suspended for two games because of his role in a domestic violence dispute back in January 2015, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Washington Redskins linebacker Junior Galette will reportedly receive a two-game suspension from the NFL for being involved in a domestic violence dispute in January 2015.

Galette was arrested on January 5 in Kenner, Louisiana for simple battery and domestic violence. The charges were later dropped. After signing a four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints in September 2014, Galette did not make the Saints roster this summer, getting cut by his former employer in July. He then signed with the Washington Redskins a week later, but tore his Achilles tendon in August before the start of the 2015 NFL Season.

Since Galette is unable to play in 2015 due to his Achilles’ tear, his two-game suspension would likely have to come in 2016 should he remain with the Washington franchise. From signing a $41.5 Million contract with the Saints to the NFL’s ruling on his two-game suspension for domestic violence, Junior Galette has surely had one of the bigger falls from grace in recent NFL history.

The once great pass rusher for the Saints has had a rough 2015 to say the least. With health issues and legal problems, it seems as though Galette’s role as a franchise pass rusher are in the rear view mirror.

However, some NFL teams are willing to overlook certain indiscretions if the guy can still play. Look no further than the Dallas Cowboys’ Greg Hardy, who stands as arguably least popular player in the NFL. Galette could still have a role in the NFL, as he had 10 sacks for the New Orleans Saints in 2014. Regardless of if he sticks in Washington or signs somewhere else for the veteran minimum, Junior Galette will have to sit out his first two games because of his January 2015 arrest.
