The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Detroit Pistons Sunday night with Kobe’s facilitating in part thanks to those Paris train heroes.

Inspiration comes from all sorts of places when you’re out on the court or on the field and for Kobe Bryant Sunday night, a big piece of that inspiration came from the three train heroes who thwarted a terrorist attack earlier August of this year. Sunday night, before the Lakers took on the Pistons, Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler were honored and given Los Angeles Lakers jerseys with their names and court side seats.

Just before before the game tipped off, Kobe met with all three of the Paris train heroes privately. It’s noteworthy also that Bryant was one of Anthony Sadler’s favorite players.

Up until that point in the game the Lakers were fostering a six-point lead over the Pistons with Kobe doing much of the facilitating. Kobe himself had was already 0-3 when it came to shots beyond the three-point line but he finally turned that around sinking a three in the fourth quarter.

Immediately after giving a couple of high-fives to his teammates after draining his three, he ran over to midcourt to where the three train heroes were sitting and gave them all a high-five. According to Greg Beacham who quoted Kobe as saying

"”That was a great moment. They were encouraging me all game. I figured I’d get one to sit down and make sure I’d dap them up.”"

It’s probably a moment that they’d never forget and a turning point in the game Kobe can attribute to the bravery of these three fearless Americans.
