Sam Bradford could be out the next two games following an injury on Sunday
After being engulfed by Dolphins linebacker Chris McCain in the third quarter on Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford sustained an injured left shoulder as well as a concussion which took him out of the contest. The Eagles had to make due with backup quarterback Mark Sanchez, who went on to throw a decisive red zone interception.
Early in the fourth quarter the Eagles announced that Bradford’s X-rays had come back negative. However, his shoulder injury will likely keep him sidelined for next Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers as well as the Eagles’ Thanksgiving Day match up against the Lions, according to PhillyMag.com.
Bradford is no stranger to injury; the former University of Oklahoma star missed 41 games throughout his five-year stint with the St. Louis Rams. Bradford suffered two tears in his ACL which kept him off the field for the entirety of last season.
Many fans and critics questioned Chip Kelly’s decision to trade Nick Foles for Sam Bradford, citing the latter’s injury record as a cause for concern. Now the Eagles will have to make due with Mark Sanchez lining up behind center, which is a prospect that doesn’t bode well for any franchise. Head coach Chip Kelly was quick to kill any brewing talk of a quarterback controversy telling the Eagles official website, “When Sam is healthy, he’ll be our starting quarterback.”
Despite their sub par 4-5 record, the Eagles only sit a half game behind the Giants in the terrible NFC East. This injury, however, will set Philadelphia back, especially after also losing running back Ryan Mathews to a concussion as well.
