New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz missed 10 games in 2014 to a torn patellar tendon, and will now miss all of 2015 due to needing calf surgery

New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz was trying to come back from a torn patellar tendon in his right knee, an injury that cost him 10 games in 2014. At one point this season the veteran was convinced he would make it back soon to help his team, and was looking at a post-bye week return.

"“I’m thoroughly convinced at some point this year I’ll be on that field, playing at a high level and making plays to help my team win.’’"

Unfortunately for Cruz, an injury to his left calf has caused a huge setback and will now end his hopes of returning to the field this season. Cruz announced he will have surgery and his comeback will have to wait until 2016.

Cruz spoke of the surgery and his frustrations on Bleacher Report.

"“It’s out of my control,” Cruz said in the video. “Certain things just happen to your body that you can’t explain. It’s a tough time for me,” he added, “a tough time for my family, a tough time for all of us.”"

The Giants signed Cruz as an undrafted free agent out of Massachusetts in 2010 and he quickly became a star. In 2011 he caught 82 passes for 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns. In his career he has 264 catches for 3,963 yards and 24 touchdowns in his 55 games.
