After leading the Chicago Cubs on an improbable run to the playoffs, Joe Maddon has won the NL Manager of the Year award.
In 2015, the Chicago Cubs took the National League by storm by winning 97 games and a spot in the National League Playoffs. They won a Wild Card Round game and they beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS at home to clinch their first-ever series at Wrigley Field.
Thanks to the Cubs’ success, manager Joe Maddon won the National League Coach of the Year award in his first season with the team.

Joe Maddon is no stranger to winning manager of the year, as he won the AL Manager of the Year award twice with the Tampa Bay Rays. When Maddon made the jump to Chicago, everyone knew the Cubs were going to have a great shot at becoming successful, but many weren’t anticipating the amount of success that they would have in their first season.
It was going to be a close race for NL Manager of the Year award, as many felt the award could also be awarded to either Mike Matheny of the St. Louis Cardinals or Terry Collins, who managed the New York Mets to an improbable World Series run.
Armed with young talent such as Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant, the Chicago Cubs are armed for many years to compete in the National League. With a great manager and great young talent, maybe just maybe, they might finally get over their World Series curse.
