FanDuel College Football Picks For November 18-19

There are four games making up the Wednesday and Thursday games this week, meaning there are a few less options than most slates. That still gives us plenty of options to choose from. Who are the best? Let’s go digging!

More from College Football Odds

My Tuesday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Thursday lineups placed last week. I placed in one of the Saturday lineups, but there were too many duds to actually make much money. Greg Ward and Trevone Boykin leaving with injuries hurt if you spent on them.

Here are my FanDuel College Football Picks for November 18-19:

Next: Who Will Put Up Big Numbers At QB?

Sep 4, 2015; Kalamazoo, MI, USA; Western Michigan Broncos quarterback Zach Terrell (11) attempts to pass the ball against the Michigan State Spartans prior to a game at Waldo Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Quarterback:

Best Bet:

Zach Terrell, Western Michigan ($8,500): NIU is 71st in pass defense, which is not bad, but it is the worst in action in this tournament. Terrell also has no shortage of good receivers to throw to. His receiving corps give him the best bet to succeed. Terrell, while not much of a runner, has had three games this year with more than 20 rushing yards. He could sneak you a couple of points there as well.

Honorable Mention:

Cooper Rush, Central Michigan ($8,200): Rush has topped 300 passing yards in four of his last five games. Kent State has a decent pass defense, but their defense is reaching the beleaguered point over the last three games. The Flashes have given up 93 points in their last three games after giving up only 103 in the month of October. Rush should still see good numbers in this one.

Dark Horse:

James Summers, East Carolina ($6,800): Summers and Blake Kemp have both had their share of struggles this year, but look for Summers to have a big game against a poor Central Florida defense. His running ability gives him the best chance to succeed no matter who takes the bulk of the snaps. Just be wary of Blake Kemp. If he does get the starting nod, which seems unlikely right now, I am going with Texas State’s Tyler Jones instead.

My pick: Summers

Next: Who Are The Best RB's?

Sep 5, 2015; DeKalb, IL, USA; Northern Illinois Huskies running back Joel Bouagnon (28) rushes for a touchdown against the UNLV Rebels during the fourth quarter at Huskie Stadium. Northern Illinois defeats UNLV 38-30. Mandatory Credit: Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Running Back:

Best Bets:

Joel Bouagnon, Northern Illinois ($8,400): Bouagnon has topped 100 yards rushing in five of his last six games, and he has been held scoreless only once this year. With Drew Hare now out, the Huskies leaned on Bouaganon last week, running him 28 times for 156 yards. A similar workload – and similar success – seem likely against a Western Michigan defense that is giving up an average of 175 rushing yards per game.

Robert Lowe, Texas State ($8,200): Louisiana-Monroe’s run defense is awful. They have given up an average of 222 yards per game on the ground. While Tyler Jones will take up some of that allowance, Lowe should get the lion’s share of it. Lowe put up big numbers on a statistically similar South Alabama defense (248 yards, 3TD) back on October 24th. He likely won’t do that well, but he should be well over 100 yards.

Honorable Mention:

Jamauri Bogan, Western Michigan ($8,000): Judging by Bogan’s usage over the last two games, he is no longer in a timeshare with Jarvion Franklin. Bogan is the true lead back. He has run for 299 yards in his last two games, and has scored ten touchdowns in his last four. Northern Illinois has a solid run defense, but no one has been able to stop Bogan lately. He is still a strong play if you can afford to splurge for two top-tier backs.

Jarvion Franklin, Western Michigan ($5,900): Franklin has gone from starter to touchdown vulture. That means his fantasy drop-off is not nearly as steep, and the Broncos should find themselves near the end zone quite a few times against Northern Illinois. There is some risk involved here though.

Dark Horse:

Ben Luckett, Louisiana-Monroe ($5,500): Texas State’s run defense has been among the worst in the country since the first game. They have now worked their way up to 125th, but they still allow a whopping 273 rushing yards per game. Luckett shredded Arkansas State for 149 yards last week. He should have no problems whatsoever doing that to the Bobcats.

My picks: Bouagnon and Luckett

Next: Can You Afford To Not Play Kenny Golladay?

Oct 24, 2015; DeKalb, IL, USA; Northern Illinois Huskies wide receiver Kenny Golladay (19) reacts after a touchdown against the Eastern Michigan Eagles during the second quarter at Huskie Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Wide Receiver:

Best Bets:

Kenny Golladay, Northern Illinois ($7,500): Golladay has quickly become new quarterback Ryan Graham’s favorite target. Golladay has 14 catches for 269 yards and three touchdowns over his last two games. He is the only one who might come close to Lewis in this tournament.

Corey Davis, Western Michigan ($8,000): Davis has four straight games with more than 100 receiving yards. That means that even if he doesn’t find the end zone, he is still going to get you solid production. That kind of safety net is important.

Honorable Mention:

Daniel Braverman, Western Michigan ($7,500): When teams started keying on Braverman, Corey Davis exploded. Braverman’s numbers have decreased significantly during Davis’s hot streak, but there should be enough balls to go around against Northern Illinois.

Isaiah Jones, East Carolina ($5,800): Jones has been the most reliable receiver for the Pirates up until the disaster that was the South Florida game. That is the exception, not the rule. When you can get a number one receiver on a team going up against a well below average offense for this price, you take it!

Dark Horses:

Jesse Kroll, Central Michigan ($5,500): Kroll and Anthony Rice are receiving about the same amount of targets in the offense right now, but Kroll is doing more with them. Rice is a little more reliable, but Kroll is the big play threat. Either one is a suitable flier against a Kent defense that has been roughed up this month.

Antwan Dixon, Kent State ($4,500): The general awfulness of the Kent offense has limited Dixon, but what makes him worth taking a chance on is the fact that he gets carries out of the backfield as well. Dixon has caught 15 passes in the last three games for 186 yards. That is great production for little money.

My picks: Davis, Golladay, and Jones

Next: Can You Save Money At TE?

Oct 11, 2014; DeKalb, IL, USA; Central Michigan Chippewas tight end Ben McCord (89) makes a touchdown catch against the Northern Illinois Huskies during the third quarter at Huskie Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Tight End:

Best Bet:

Bryce Williams, East Carolina ($3,000): Due to the relative ineptitude at quarterback for ECU, Williams has had a pretty busy season. He has not been held without a catch this year, so he is at least going to get you something, which you can’t say for the other options at the desolate wasteland that is the tight end position in this tournament.

Honorable Mention:

Ben McCord, Central Michigan ($2,800): Tight end is a barren wasteland in this tournament. It makes you thankful for the DraftKings format in which you do not have to use a tight end if you don’t want to. McCord is at the top of this barrel only because he is not touchdown dependent. He also doesn’t score a whole lot of fantasy points. He had a 100 yard game against Syracuse back in September and scored twice against Western Michigan on October 10th. Other than that, he has been quiet.

Dark Horse:

Desroy Maxwell, Northern Illinois ($2,100): Maxwell has disappeared for entire games at a time, which makes him a really tough guy to take a chance on. He has not caught a pass since October 24th, but he could come back at any time. Yes, I am reaching here. There is no other tight end under $2,800 that has caught at least one pass in every game. That’s how bad TE is.

My pick: Williams
