More shocking news in Europe regarding international soccer has developed on Tuesday as the Germany-Netherlands friendly in Hannover has been cancelled and the stadium in the German city has been evacuated. A suspicious object being found near the stadium led to a cancellation after increased police security presence in the wake of the Paris attacks last Friday.
According to English-German news bureau DW (Deutsche Welle), police found a suspicious object, and after shortly allowing journalists covering the match into the stadium decided to evacuate, as well as cancel, the match that was already in doubt over the course of the weekend.
Police are currently instructing those near the Hannover stadium to quickly evacuate and to “not stand still” as they exit the area.

From early reports it is appearing that this story will not be as dark as the scenes at Stade de France on Friday when Germany-France was placed in the middle of a terrorist attack. With police ordering an evacuation as a reason for the cancellation of this match will come soon enough, but for now it is another scary situation in Europe regarding international football in the months leading up to Euro 2016 in France.
As of post, police have not given an official reason for the game’s cancelation.
