Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t let injuries keep him from playing football. He also doesn’t let them get in the way of thanking his fans for their support.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger spent all last week preparing to backup Landry Jones against the Cleveland Browns. He wound up playing in the game and the Steelers won 30-9. Before beating the Browns, Ben Roethlisberger helped a young fan named Carson Boyle celebrate a much bigger victory; a victory over a rare form of cancer. Boyle has been cancer-free since January, but there is one-in-three chance that it could appear in his lymph nodes.

Carson and Roethlisberger bonded because Carson is a huge fan of Roethlisberger. Carson’s mom said that Carson was rendered speechless by Roethlisberger’s kindness.
"To Carson, there’s nothing bigger than meeting him and getting something autographed. He literally couldn’t even speak. He was speechless. The look on his face, he was just in total amazement that he was there. [Ben] was really, really nice. – ESPN"
Carson also visited the Steelers during practice last week.

When all was said and done, Ben Roethlisberger gave Carson a signed pair of cleats. Carson got tickets to the Steelers-Browns game on Sunday and also got to hang out with running back DeAngelo Williams. Williams is an outspoken advocate for breast cancer research after losing his mother due to the disease.
There’s so much negativity in sports these days. These kinds of stories remind us that athletes can be good people as well.
