Texas Rangers

The Rangers are similar to the Dodgers. They are a big market team (albeit not quite as big market as the Dodgers) and they are in a position to win sooner as opposed to later. They also have a deep enough prospect pool that they could make a move for Fernandez. Fernandez would give the Rangers a perfect complement to Cole Hamels to lead their rotation for the future.

The Rangers have a number of middle infield prospects that they could trade for Fernandez. One would think that Jurickson Profar would be in any deal for Fernandez considering that Profar doesn’t have a starting job for 2016. Profar hasn’t panned out like the Rangers had hoped due to injuries, but Profar is still an extremely young and talented player. They could also offer any number of their outfield prospects.

The Rangers need to fix their rotation. Trading for Fernandez would be a cost-efficient way for them to do that. They could add another free agent starter and fix their rotation in just one off-season. The Rangers have to be bold and aggressive to beat out the Astros in the AL West next season. Fernandez would certainly help them do that.
