Marcus Mariota finds the end zone for Tennessee.

The Tennessee Titans are not a very good team in 2015. In fact, they are nothing but terrible, sitting at 2-7 and in last palce of the AFC South, the worst division in the National Football League. Still, their fans have reason to be excited because rookie quarterback and second-overall pick Marcus Mariota looks like a legitimate star in the making.

On Thursday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field, Mariota gave us a sweet highlight. Trailing 9-6 in the third quarter, Mariota scrambled to his left and went up the sideline before diving over the pylon for a 23-yard touchdown, the longest scoring run of a quarterback this season.

Mariota was thought by most experts to need at least a year on the bench, learning how to play in the NFL after dealing with a spread system at the University of Oregon. Instead, the Titans decided to immediately start Mariota over second-year man Zach Mettenberger.

However, the season has not been without its trials for Mariota. The youngster had to deal with the business side of the NFL when his first head coach, Ken Whisenhunt, was fired and replaced after seven games for interim head coach Mike Mularkey. Since Mularkey took over the team, the Titans are 1-1 and still appear destined for a top-five pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
