The NBA season presses on, and we’re still not sure if the Golden State Warriors will be topped in the power rankings.

When the season started, there were doubters of the Golden State Warriors; naysayers who claimed the team would take a step back. Those of us who went that route look like morons after the 12-0 start for the Dubs, who remain atop the NBA Power Rankings for another consecutive week.

It’s hard to say when the Warriors will be knocked off — even though we know it will probably happen. While it’s highly unlikely that they go undefeated for the first time in professional basketball history, they’re on a pace to eclipse the Chicago Bulls for the best record in NBA history, a goal that is very much attainable.

As for the rest of the league, it’s basically turning into a game of catchup at this point. Cleveland has fallen back a bit, the Heat are on the rise and teams like Milwaukee, Minnesota and Houston are tumbling.

Not everything is bad though, as Oklahoma City, Dallas and Phoenix all took jumps this week in the power rankings. Miami’s rise may be the most impressive, even if it’s temporary and short lived. It’s hard to argue with their success, but as we saw with Toronto a few weeks ago, no one is promised anything this early in the season.
