22-5 run in the 4th quarter. That was all it took for Golden State Warriors to keep their record perfect, 13-0. Two more wins versus Chicago at home and on the road at Denver and the Warriors will have tied the best start in NBA history equaling the 48-49 Washington Capitols & 93-94 Rockets. No one seems as interested in 15-0 as much as they seem interested in the Warriors quest for 70.

Of course, it is too early to talk about the big number. Injuries, resting players and the inevitable challenge of staying up to play every night are all enormous factors that are impossible to predict. However, Golden State seems like a team that would like to do it. There is mounting evidence the Warriors are an even better team this year, Steph Curry leading the way making himself a better, more efficient player.

Some thought, me, last years 67-win team was some sort of fluke despite the Warriors dominating numbers winning by over 10 a game. I argued at the time that the Warriors were not an all-time great team. I still don’t think they beat to the Bulls of the 90’s, Magic and Kareem’s Lakers, Shaq and Kobe Lakers, Bird’s Celtics, or even the Bad Boy Pistons. But, if they win 70 and another title they will deserve at least the conversation of where these Warriors fit amongst the NBA’s all-time great teams.
