Are the Sacramento Kings getting ready to make John Calipari an offer that he cannot refuse?

With the Sacramento Kings off to a poor start and rumors swirling about tensions within the locker room at times, it appears that head coach George Karl may be on the hot seat once again. With this, of course, comes the rumors of potential replacements that might be able to come in and get things back on track.

And with this, you know that only means one thing: Hello there, John Calipari!

Yes, with all of the negative talk surrounding the Kings, and Karl in particular, once again the Kentucky head coach’s name has come to the forefront of the discussion as a replacement. According to Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher, should a change be necessary in Sacramento, the team is willing to make a huge offer to Calipari.

"But Ranadivé’s biggest dream is to have Kentucky coach John Calipari come out and coach this roster full of Kentucky players."

"The belief is that Ranadive will take another run after Calipari plans to make an offer that Calipari simply cannot refuse."

Here, of course, he’s referring to team owner Vivek Ranadivé, who has been rumored to be a huge supporter of bringing in Calipari to coach the team. As stated above, with the Kentucky players on the roster that played for him, such as DeMarcus Cousins and Willie Cauley-Stein, it seems to all make sense to bring in Cal to run things here. It might not be the best idea in the world, but the logic is there whether anyone likes it or not.

Who knows whether or not Calipari would be interested in a return to the NBA, where he was not the greatest success. That decision will come down to him in the end; and we know that the opportunity is also there for him to leverage something like this for more money in Lexington if he wanted to.

When all is said and done, though, we won’t know what happens here until the day comes where Karl is not sitting on the bench as the coach.
