The reported Starlin Castro for Brett Gardner trade makes some sense.

Chicago Cubs infielder Starlin Castro has been linked to trade rumors involving himself and New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner. The Yankees and Cubs both exceeded expectations this season by making it farther than pundits and fans expected.

The Yankees finished their first season in the post-Derek Jeter era by making it to the American League Wild Card Game, but they were eliminated in that contest by the Houston Astros. Meanwhile, the Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Wild Card Game before upsetting the rival St. Louis Cardinals to reach the National League Championship Series. The New York Mets immediately crushed the Cubs’ World Series dreams with a sweep though.

The Cubs have a bright future ahead of them, though, with multiple young players on the rise, including National League Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant. Although Castro has many years ahead of him at 25 years old, it would make sense for the Cubs to deal him for Gardner. The Cubs will still be one of the most youthful teams in the majors if they pull the trigger on this sort of deal.

Here are five reasons why this would make a fantastic trade for both teams.
