With rumors of a potential exit for Charlie Strong, the Texas AD voiced some support on Friday

While the college football season is still going strong here down the stretch, that hasn’t stopped the coaching rumor mill from swirling. Of course, the most notable talks recently have been about Charlie Strong departing from the Texas Longhorns and heading to coach the Miami Hurricanes, seeing as Texas really hasn’t made any significant improvements this season.

Now, as far as how Strong would leave Texas, well, that’s been discussed both ways. There are some that believe he’ll feel Miami is just a better fit for him and depart, and then there are some that believe the impatient Texas administration will force him out once the season comes to a close.

Well, about that latter part — that might not be nearly the case.

On Friday, interim Texas Athletic Director Mike Perrin was on the radio, and he had no problem in voicing his support for Strong staying on as the head coach of the Longhorns going forward.

The press conference that he’s referring to is the impromptu one that was called on Wednesday, in which Strong did mildly address the Miami rumors and reiterated his commitment to Texas for the near future.

Look, right now these statements are all something that we expect. With a couple more weeks left until the season comes to an end, we won’t really see any movement one way or another until the 2015 season is all in the books.

This situation will get more and more interesting until it’s made absolutely certain that Miami has chosen another coach that’s not named Charlie Strong.
